Deerskin Leather...a valuable product of your deer hunting. After removing your hide, stretch it out and rub about two pounds of salt on the flesh side. Then fold the edges to the middle, roll up hair out and place in a box or burlap bag. There are tanners that will tan this deerskin and manufacture leather accessories.

A small deer will yield 6 to 8 sq. ft. of leather. A medium deer , 9 to 11 sq. ft., and a large deer will yield 12 to 16 sq. ft. of leather. This tanned leather can be used for gloves, handbags, garments, wallets and moccasins.
