8 oz weight means they are a medium thickness (0.125" or 3.18mm). This thickness has enough heft and substance to make it ideal for belts, rifle scabbards, holsters, motorcycle belts, straps, coasters, sheaths, tool bags, moccasin soles, sandal straps, DIY crafts, and much more.

They are drum dyed and black completely through.
